Since March 2011, unrest in Syria has led to the displacement of more than six and a half million people. According to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), more than 1,5 million Syrians have fled to neighbouring countries causing increased strain upon governments and local communities. Displacement within Syria has left more than 4,25 million without access to basic amenities and in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
JRS is currently providing accompaniment, emergency support - mainly food and shelter - and educational and psychosocial support for displaced Syrians both within and outside of Syria. JRS continues to conduct needs assessments in different locations in the region seeking to fill gaps amongst existing services.
